Overview
Amnesia: The Dark Descent is a horror game that combines puzzle-solving, exploration and stealth. Players take the role of Daniel, who finds himself trapped in a dark medieval castle with no memory of anything but his name. Exploring the halls, Daniel soon finds the castle occupied by twisted monsters. Daniel must try to avoid death by hiding from pursuers and sneaking through the shadows, but must also balance a "sanity meter" that depletes when he is in the darkness or the presence of a monster for too long and will cause him to panic and lose control when it is low. Exploring the castle and solving its puzzles, players gradually learn who Daniel is, how he came here and most importantly how he can defeat the malevolent force occupying the castle and escape.
