Bungie's flagship series made a triumphant return with Halo 2. The campaign picks up with Master Chief on the war path to save Earth, while players also step into the hooves of one of the reviled Covenant, the disgraced Arbiter. New weapons, vehicles, opponents and combat mechanics ensure that the gameplay won't feel stale to veterans, and the stakes are raised for Master Chief and humanity alike as the Covenant bear down on their remaining homelands. Halo 2's crown jewel - which it shares with its predecessor, is its multiplayer mode. Unlike any online first-person shooter before it, matches occur back-to-back with almost no delay, due to Bungie's "playlist" system, with players similar in rank to joining players.
