Taking place 17 years after the previous installment, new and returning characters continue to strive for the legendary sword Soul Edge. Story mode centers on Patroklos, a new character that battles to defeat Nightmare and rescue his demon infested sister, Pyrrha. Other new characters include Aeon, Zwei, Viola and Ezio Auditore from ?Assassin's Creed.? Nearly limitless custom characters can be created through a variety of unlockable in-game content and purchasable download content. Body heights, weights, voices, clothing, equipment and fighting styles are available for character editing. Like older games in the series, arcade, versus and quick battles are available. Fighting is based on horizontal and vertical attacks. A new critical attack gauge allows for the execution of super combos. Online gameplay is available and showcases the player's custom character. It tracks personal battle records and those of opponents worldwide.
