Overview
Codemasters Software Company and Triumph Studios joined forces to create Overlord, a game that gives the player a chance to be a villain. Players begin the game as a weak Overlord, and must build their legion of loyal minions and complete battles in order to become more and more powerful. Players are invited to steal everything that isn't nailed down in order to keep their horde supplied with quality equipment, after all, without a strong horde, the player will have a tough time collecting the gold needed to become Overlord. Overlord features tactical gameplay in which minions must be led to achieve desired goals and avoid traps like alcohol or beckoning succubi. The player can also use healers to patch up damaged minions before the next big fight. Using irony and black humor, Overlord attempts to subvert the classic fantasy hero story.
