Project X Zone 2 retains elements of a traditional street fighting game. A sense of nostalgia defines this title that brings together dozens of classic characters from multiple video game franchises such as Resident Evil, Tekken, Sakura Wars, Yakuza and many more. All of the fighters essentially meet on a single platform that has been crossed over. Active strategy battles provide real-time controls over tactics and maneuvers in all of the fighters. Aerial attacks and martial arts highlight the type of battles that go on in the game. Project X Zone 2 features various street settings that are inspired by real Japanese cities. Additionally, combat also takes place in historic venues such as temples and other sacred places in oriental culture.
